
A cabinet sub-committee on excise policies met on Monday at the Excise Commissioner’s office in Mangalagiri, chaired by Minister for Mines and Excise Kollu Ravindra. Food and Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar attended the session, while MSME, SERP & NRI Affairs Minister Kondapalli Srinivas and Health Minister Satyakumar Yadav joined via video conference.
The discussions focused on several key issues, including the BAR & RET policy, microbrewery regulations, the promotion of digital payments, and the proposal to establish premium liquor stores. The ministers emphasized that the government’s priority is to bring greater transparency, modernization, and responsible consumption in the excise sector while balancing regulation with consumer needs.
Senior officials, including Chief Secretary (Excise, Mines & General Administration – Political) Mukesh Kumar Meena, Excise Commissioner Sridhar Chamakuri, and Enforcement Director Rahuldev Sharma, presented detailed reports. They outlined current challenges, proposed policy reforms, and shared implementation strategies with the sub-committee.
The deliberations highlighted Andhra Pradesh’s commitment to reforming excise policies in a way that encourages accountability, supports industry innovation, and meets public expectations. The cabinet sub-committee will finalize recommendations for the state government’s consideration.
